    Project

Jigsaw puzzles are a mechanism that allow for interaction in different ways: connecting with strangers in silence, or, when talking, not needing to make eye-contact or fill space. Each person inherently has different techniques and tactics for connecting the pieces. You are welcome to join me at any time and see if puzzling has something to give you, too. You might be surprised if you give it a try.

    Biography Adriana Disman

Adriana Disman is a performance art maker, thinker, and writer. Best known as a performance maker, since 2010 their solo work has been presented in numerous festivals and galleries across Canada, the United States, Europe, and India. During pandemic lockdowns, Disman took up painting and drawing for the first time as well as becoming an avid jigsaw puzzler.

Disman’s theoretical writing on performance can be found in both academic and art publications. They were awarded the 2018 OAAG Art Writing Award for their text in Deirdre Logue’s monograph. Disman is co-editing the forthcoming book “50 Key Performance Artists” (Routledge, Spring 2023) and finishing their Ph.D. on the pathologization of self-wounding in performance art at Queen Mary School of London, under Dominic Johnson. Next, Disman plans to write a novel on housing precarity and social justice rhetoric and is seeking literary representation.
