With SYNAPSIS, Spektrum presents works from its artist residencies and encounters, bringing together different contemporary creative approaches around the invisible links between memory, identity, art and new technologies.

In the brain, synapses transmit signals between neurons. Here, they become a metaphor for bridges connecting people, art and technology, and the past with the future.

The exhibition invites visitors to explore worlds where traces of industrial heritage meet digital landscapes, where matter turns into data and memories take on new forms. Stones, light and mining remains enter into dialogue with LiDAR laser scanning, three-dimensional models and moving images. Matter thus reveals other dimensions of memory.

Visitors will discover immersive and interactive installations, virtual reality experiences, audiovisual creations, works made with artificial intelligence, avatars and 3D-printed sculptures. Generative images, sounds and movements form sensitive environments that visitors can transform with their gestures.

Along the way, several questions intersect: how do our experiences shape our identity? What remains of the landscapes and gestures of the past? What place do chance, intention and the artist's hand hold in the age of AI? And how can digital tools open up creation to new audiences?

A virtual gallery also extends the physical exhibition space, opening paintings, sculptures and digital works beyond borders.

SYNAPSIS does not present technology as an end in itself, but as an additional language to feel, question, pass on and imagine. An invitation to discover the connections running through us, and those that art still allows us to invent.
