The architecture
Spektrum occupies the former Hames estate in Rumelange, transformed from a private home and studio into a hybrid cultural venue open to the public. Once the home and workplace of sculptor Albert Hames, the building now embodies a dialogue between memory and contemporary creation.
A new exposed concrete extension reaches out towards the landscape, connecting past and present with restraint. Conceived as adaptable, living architecture, it provides a setting for art, exchange and community.
Nominated for the European Union Prize for Contemporary Architecture – Mies van der Rohe Award 2026, the project asserts a strong identity, rooted in its context and looking to the future.

Spektrum offers two residency rooms and four studios for artists. These studios include areas with projection screens and 3D sound, workshops with 3D printers, and versatile workspaces. These resources give creators an innovative and flexible environment to experiment and develop their artistic projects in a modern, well-equipped setting.

The Studio Room
This room offers a direct view of sculptor Albert Hames’ preserved studio. Designed for contemplation, it allows visitors to discover the workspace as it was in 1989. A subtle, silent connection to the memory of the place.
